How does miraDry work?

Do you have sweaty armpits that make you feel flustered and embarrassed?  If yes, miraDry may be just what you need to get rid of underarm sweat for good. MiraDry is an FDA cleared non-invasive therapy that treats underarm sweating by removing the sweat and odor glands.   But how does miraDry work.

How does miraDry work?

Excessive underarm sweating or axillary hyperhidrosis is caused by overactive sweat glands.  miraDry uses electromagnetic technology to eliminate sweat glands.

The miraDry handpiece emits thermal energy through the skin, which heats and destroys the sweat and odor glands.  The results of miraDry are immediate and permanent, because the treated sweat glands don’t grow back.  Another benefit of the miraDry system is the reduction of underarm hair.

miraDry is a quick, simple in-office procedure that takes approximately 1 hour to complete.  Most patients see results after just one treatment (learn more).

Is miraDry painful?

MiraDry is a very comfortable procedure.  A local anesthetic is used to numb the armpits at the start of the procedure, and cooling is applied throughout to protect the skin, and enhance patient comfort.

Is there any downtime

Most patients are able to return to work immediately after miraDry treatment.  However, there may be some swelling, tenderness, and numbness in the underarms for about 1 week after treatment.

Am I a good candidate for miraDry?

If underarm sweating is a problem for you and you’ve tried antiperspirants and other solutions but nothing seems to work, you may be a good candidate for miraDry.
