Cellulite is a beauty problem that almost every woman deals with, whether they are thin or fat. It is a condition that typically appears on the thighs, abdomen, and buttocks. Cellulite was once impossible to treat, but there are now treatments like Cellulaze and Cellfina that promise to banish cellulite. But let’s find out what is the difference between Cellulaze and Cellfina.
What is Cellulite?
Within the fat layer below the surface of the skin, there are bands of connective tissue that pull the skin down, creating the ‘cottage cheese’ look we know as cellulite.
Cellulaze and Cellfina
Cellulaze is a laser treatment for cellulite that heats the dermal layer of the skin. This leads to the release of the fibrous bands interwoven throughout the fat layer.
Cellfina is a procedure that tackles the underlying cause of cellulite. The device has a small blade that is used to gently cut through the fibrous bands that hold the skin taut, and causes cellulite dimpling. The blade is inserted via a tiny puncture wound, but no sutures are required.
How are they different
Cellfina is a less invasive procedure, and has a faster recovery time compared to Cellulaze.Side effects with Cellfina are minimal. There is only some mild bruising, which usually resolves within 7-14 days.
It typically takes a single 45 minute treatment to see improvements with Cellfina. Cellulaze is a longer procedure that can take up to 2 hours.
The results of Cellulaze typically last for 1 year, while the results of Cellfina last a minimum of 2 years. This is the longest FDA clearance for a cellulite treatment.
