If you’re planning to undergoa breast lift to restore your youthful bust line, chances are you’ll be eager to see the results. But since the body takes time to heal, the improvements won’t be seen right away. So what is the recovery timeline for a breast lift?
Pregnancy, significant weight loss, and aging can cause the breasts to sag and lose their youthful shape. A breast lift will get rid of the excess skin and lift the breasts back where they belong.
Breast lift surgery
A breast lift or mastopexy is a surgical procedure that is done to lift and reshape sagging breasts. During the procedure the surgeon will remove the excess skin, reshape the breast tissue, and reposition the nipple-areola complex. Mastopexy is done on an outpatient basis, and usually takes about 90 minutes to perform.
What is the recovery timeline for a breast lift?
Recovery after breast lift surgery typically takes about 6 weeks. Patients can expect to experience some swelling, bruising, and discomfort immediately after the procedure. However, these side-effects usually resolve to a large degree within 7 days of surgery.
A compression bra or sports bra is normally worn for about 6 weeksafter surgery, to help with the healing process. Most patientswith a sedentary job are able to return to work after 7 days. Light activity can be resumed within 7-10 days, but all lifting and strenuous activity should be avoided for at least 6 weeks.
However since everyone heals differently, patients should be sure to adhere to the post-surgical instructions of their plastic surgeon.
